Extractions

When a tooth is damaged to the point where it is beyond repair, you may need to have it extracted. There are a number of different reasons why you may need your tooth removed, including damage from a trauma, gum disease, or decay / infection.

Where you have extra teeth causing issues with overcrowding in your mouth or where your baby teeth have not fallen out naturally, then you also may need a tooth or several teeth extracted.

Before The Extraction

Before you can be considered for a tooth extraction, you will need to provide our dental surgeons and orthodontists with any medical information, such as heart defects, liver disease, artificial joints, or an imapired immune system, that may impact on the procedure.

It’s essential that you share this information with our experts to ensure there are no problems with your procedure and that you’re able to make a full and complete recovery.

The Extraction Procedure

Tooth extractions at Accu Dental can be performed either with local anesthetic or under general anesthetic depending on the level of surgery required. For simple extractions, our expert orthodontists and dental surgeons will use a local anesthetic. It’s injected directly into the infected area to completely numb it. Once it has taken effect, the extraction process will begin.
