Your child’s first dental examination at Accu Dental provides the perfect chance for them to establish healthy oral habits and a good personal relationship with our expert orthodontists and dental surgeons. Whilst this milestone can often feel quite scary for both child and parent, knowing what to expect can help to make it a positive and educational experience for everyone.

What To Expect

The exam is designed to familiarize your child with the dental clinic and to check on how their teeth are developing. Our dental surgeons and orthodontists will start off by greeting your child and building a rapport with them, then talk with both parent and child about dental hygiene. Before any dental work takes place, our experts will familiarise your child with some of the instruments that they’ll be using. They will then proceed to clean and polish your child’s teeth and apply some fluoride. A full examination of their teeths and gums will also be conducted to identify any potential health concerns.

An x-ray may also be taken, although this step may be skipped during the initial examination if your child is particularly nervous.

A Positive Experience

Whilst our experts will do what they can to make your child’s first dental appointment a positive experience, there are a number of things that parents should be doing also, including encouraging them to regularly brush their teeth.
